MOSCOW, December 16 /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Argentina’s new President Mauricio Macri on assuming office.
In a telephone conversation held on Wednesday, the two leaders stressed reciprocal readiness for joint constructive work with an aim to develop comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Argentina, according to the Kremlin press service.
"The sides stressed the importance of succession in implementing priority Russian-Argentinian projects in trade and the economic sphere," the Kremlin press service said.
"The leaders agreed to continue a dialogue on urgent questions of international and regional agenda, including in the context of establishing interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union and MERCOSUR, a Latin American sub-regional bloc," the Kremlin said.
Putin has also talked to Argentina’s former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. "He expressed his genuine gratitude for years of joint work for the sake of developing Russian-Argentinian partnership," the Kremlin press service said.
