MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to spend Monday, December 14, in his home city of St. Petersburg, where he is expected to meet with judges of Russia’s Constitutional Court and attend a cultural forum at the State Hermitage, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists.
"On Monday, the president will work in St. Petersburg. He will meet with judges of Russia’s Constitutional Court on the occasion of the Constitution Day [marked in Russia on December 12 - TASS]," he said, adding that such meetings were held annually.
"It is planned to discuss issues of ensuring the supremacy of law and direct operation of the Russian constitution on the territory of the country, as well as protection of basic rights and freedoms of citizens," the Kremlin press service said.
Apart from that, the Russian president will attend the 4th St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. He is expected to take part in a plenary meeting dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO. He meeting will be held at the Hermitage [a state museum of art and culture, one of the largest and oldest in the world - TASS]. "It is planned to discuss issues of the development of the modern world and Russian cultural life, preservation of cultural heritage of the nation and efforts to prevent destruction of cultural monuments," the Kremlin said.
The Russian leader is expected to have a separate meeting with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova on the sidelines of the forum. Putin’s previous meeting with the UNESCO director general took place in St. Petersburg in December 2014, when he reassured Bokova of Russia’s further support to her organization.
Later in the day, the president will attend a concert at the Mariinsky Theatre on the occasion of the closure of the Year of Literature and opening of the Year of Cinema in Russia.
