Toll rates for long-haul drivers is not Kremlin administration’s problem

"We still believe that the topic is not part of the presidential administration’s agenda. It is in the competence of a specialized agency," Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said

MOSCOW, December 4 /TASS/. Toll rates for heavy trucks is not a problem which the Kremlin administration is supposed to tackle but a compromise will hopefully be found, Kremlin spokesperson said on Friday.

"We still believe that the topic is not part of the presidential administration’s agenda. It is in the competence of a specialized agency (the Ministry of Transport)," Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

He added that certain measures had been taken, in his view, to solve the dispute with the long-haul drivers who are extremely displeased with the new fee.

"I hope that those who are interested in this theme will get answers to their questions," Peskov said.

He also noted that the Russian State Duma, the lower house of Russian parliament, discussed the reduction of fines for long-haul drivers who divert from the assigned routes during their voyage. "This question is being actively discussed. It should certainly be discussed through a direct dialogue between a specialized agency, which is the Ministry of Transport, and those who has questions," Peskov explained.

Discontented long-haul drivers have been holding protests across Russia since last week.
