Russia urges Saudi Arabia not to exclude anybody from meeting with Syrian opposition

"A Syrian opposition delegation should include the entire spectrum of opposition forces. There should be no selective approach," the Russian foreign minister said

BELGRADE, December 3 /TASS/. Russia is urging Saudi Arabia not to exclude anybody from a meeting with Syrian opposition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday.

"A Syrian opposition delegation should include the entire spectrum of opposition forces. There should be no selective approach. Not a single group, which is more lovable by external players, should dominate," the Russian foreign minister said.

"We have submitted our proposals to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia and the United States have their own views. It is necessary for the United Nations to summarize all that," Lavrov added.

"Saudi Arabia wants to hold a meeting of (Syrian) opposition representatives, predominantly those whom it likes," Lavrov said. He recalled that Russia had invited all Syrian opposition representatives to the Moscow consultations.

"We advise Saudi Arabia to do the same without excluding anybody," the Russian foreign minister stressed.
