MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will pay an official visit to China from December 14 to 17, the government press service reported on Tuesday.
Within the visit framework, Medvedev will attend a meeting of the Heads of Government Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Zhengzhou on December 14-15. On December 16, he will speak at the opening ceremony of the Second World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, as well as together with Premier of the Chinese State Council Li Keqiang will hold the 20th regular meeting of the heads of government of Russia and China in Beijing on December 16-17.
According to the Russian Cabinet materials, at a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government priority will be given to the state of and prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation among the organisation member states in the context of the ongoing processes in the global politics and economy. It is planned to review the implementation of the programme of multilateral trade and economic cooperation of the SCO states and the list of measures for the further development of project activities within the SCO framework for the 2012-2016 period.
The heads of government are expected to adopt a joint communique and a statement on the regional economic interaction, as well as decisions on a number of SCO activity aspects, including the approval of the SCO budget for 2016.
In connection with the meeting it is planned to sign the programme of cooperation between the customs services of the SCO member states for 2016-2021 and a memorandum of understanding between the SCO Secretariat and Secretariat of UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific). Also, the SCO heads of government will hold a regular traditional meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Medvedev and Xi Jinping will speak in Wuzhen on December 16 at the opening ceremony of the Second World Internet Conference that will be held under the slogan "An Interconnected World Shared and Governed by All - Building a Cyberspace Community of Shared Destiny."
The 20th regular meeting of the heads of governments of Russia and China will be held in Beijing on December 17. Li Keqiang and Medvedev will discuss a wide range of issues of trade-economic, scientific-technical, investment and industrial cooperation, as well as bilateral humanitarian and cultural exchanges.
The mechanism of regular meetings between the Russian and Chinese government heads that exist since 1996 covers all areas of practical cooperation between the two countries. The meeting agenda includes issues related to the improvement of the bilateral trade structure, expansion of investment cooperation, implementation of joint energy projects and development of cooperation in the sphere of high technology.
The signing of several bilateral intergovernmental, interdepartmental and corporate documents is timed to the jubilee meeting of the Russian and Chinese government heads. The closing ceremony of the Years of Russia-China Youth Exchanges (2014-2015) and the opening ceremony of the Russia-China Media Years will also be held in Beijing.
