Putin signs decree suspending visa-free trips for Turkish citizens as of Jan 1, 2016

The Foreign Ministry is expected to notified the Turkish authorities on a partial suspension of the May 12, 2010 agreement on visa-free traveling

MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on measures to assure national security of the Russian Federation, on protection of Russian citizen against unlawful and criminal actions and on applying special economic measures to the Turkish Republic.

The document says, in part, it suspends the legal effects of the May 12, 2010 Russian-Turkish agreement on conditions for reciprocal trips by Russian citizens to Turkey and Turkish citizens to Russia in what concerns the trips by holders of regular passports.

Along with it, the Turkish citizens having permits for long-term residence in Russia, as well as accredited diplomats, the holders of service passports and members of their families are exempt from the current change of rules.
