Organizer of Nemtsov's murder left Russia under false passport — investigators

Ruslan Mukhudinov accused of organizing the murder of Russian oppositionist Boris Nemtsov intends to hide abroad permanently, Russia’s Investigative Committee believes

MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. Moscow’s Basmanny court sanctioned on Wednesday an arrest in absentia of Ruslan Mukhudinov, accused of organizing the murder of opposition politician Boris Nemtsov.

The defense intends to take review against the judgement. "This decision is based in assumptions of the investigation. There is no proof of his involvement in the crime he is suspected of having committed," the lawyer said. He declined, however, to give the whereabouts of his client.

Russia’s Investigative Committee believes that Ruslan Mukhudinov has illegally left Russia under false documents, an investigator said at a Moscow court on Wednesday.

"The materials that have been received suggest that Mukhudinov could illegally leave Russia under a false passport and intends to hide abroad permanently," an investigator said at Moscow’s Basmanny Court that is examining Mukhudinov’s arrest in absentia. He has been on the federal wanted list.

The guilt of Ruslan Mukhudinov in organizing the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov is confirmed by testimony of defendants, an investigator said.

"Mukhudinov’s guilt is confirmed by confessionary statements of accused persons, as well as by other materials in the case," he said.

Earlier, Ruslan Mukhudinov was charged in absentia for organizing the murder of Russian politician, co-chairman of opposition party Parnas, Boris Nemtsov.

"Ruslan Mukhudinov was charged in absentia for organizing the murder of Boris Nemtsov. We are glad that this has finally been decided and hope that the charges will be soon brought against his childhood friend Ruslan Geremeyev," Zhanna Nemtsova’s lawyer Vadim Prokhorov told TASS last week.

Co-chairman of the Parnas opposition party Boris Nemtsov was shot dead in downtown Moscow on February 27. Zaur Dadaev whom investigators consider the killer, Khamzat Bakhaev, Anzor Gubashev, Shadid Gubashev and Tamerlan Eskerkhanov have been arrested over Nemtsov’s murder.
