MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. Russia is always prepared to cooperate with those who build relationship on the basis of equality and mutual respect, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said speaking at the 5th World Congress of Russian Compatriots, which has opened in Moscow on Thursday.
"Russia is pursuing an independent policy, defends the supremacy of international law and the need to respect the central role of the United Nations," he noted. "Russian President [Vladimir Putin] has repeatedly said that, despite all actions of our colleagues, we will never follow the path of self-isolation and search of enemies."
According to Lavrov, Russia "will always be ready to cooperate with those who are willing to do the same and build relationship on the basis of equality and mutual respect."
"I am confident that our compatriots who are well aware of the situation in the countries they live in may effectively contribute to our cooperation with these countries," the Russian foreign minister added.
