MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is due to meet with UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Wednesday in Moscow to discuss launching the political process based on the dialogue between the broad range of the Syrian opposition and the government.

De Mistura’s visit to the Russian capital will continue the diplomatic efforts on settlement in Syria launched at the talks in Vienna on October 23 and October 29-30.

After the October 30 broad ministerial meeting in Vienna involving the representatives of 19 countries and international organizations, a joint document was adopted that stated that the political settlement will be held under the auspices of the UN.

Under the Vienna communique, one of the special envoy’s key tasks will be to assist direct talks between the opposition and authorities to set up a special governing body. De Mistura is expected to inform Lavrov about the effort to this aim.
