Russia and Chile sign agreement on trade cooperation - Chilean Foreign Ministry

BUENOS AIRES, October 31. /TASS/. Russia and Chile have made an agreement to cooperate in the spheres of trade, investment and science, the Chilean Foreign Ministry’s main department on international economic relations said on Saturday.

"The 8th session of the Inter-governmental Russian-Chilean commission on trade and economic cooperation has resulted in the agreements that allow the countries to expand contacts in such spheres as trading agricultural produce, investment, as well as cooperation in the spheres of education, science and technologies," the department said.

The Russian delegation to the session in Santiago was led by Russia’s agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor’s head Sergey Dankvert. The Chilean side was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Foreign Minister on Trade Andres Rebolledo.

Rebolledo said that developing economic relations with Russia is among Chile’s top priorities. "We maintain very important trade contacts with Russia," he added noting the importance of the inter-governmental commission for "strengthening cooperation with Russia and the Eurasian Economic Commission."

Both sides expressed hope that the unresolved issues with salmon supplies to Russia may be worked out soon.

In the framework of the visit, Russian entrepreneurs met with their Chilean colleagues. Several agreements were signed after the meeting.
