VIENNA, October 23. /TASS/. It is very important to cooperation with Russian military, and Jordan believes in the effectiveness of the mechanism established in Amman, the country’s Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said on Friday after talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"Out proximity to the Syrian territory requires, of course, close consultations with Russia, especially between the military," Jedah said. "We have established such mechanism and think that it will be effective for countering terrorists not only in Syria but also beyond its borders," he added.

Judeh described the talks with Lavrov as productive. "We maintain firm contacts and hold close consultations with our Russian partners. Contacts continue between His Majesty Kind of Jordan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as at the level of foreign ministers," he noted.

The Jordanian foreign minister also stressed that Moscow and Amman share the common position that it is important to settle the conflict in Syria by political means. "We adhere to the Geneva Communique [from 30 June 2012]," he said.
