Russia counts on further developing of cooperation with Argentina — FM

MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. Russia counts the course towards strategic partnership between Moscow and Buenos Aires will be continued after the presidential elections in that country on October 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday while visiting an exhibition dedicated to the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries at the Argentinian embassy.

"Today, cooperation between Russia and Argentina has reached an unprecedented high level," he said. "The fruitful and confidential dialogue between our leaders gives a powerful impetus to its further strengthening."

Lavrov noted that Russia and Argentina had close cooperation ties on the global arena, including within mechanisms of the United Nations and integration associations in Latin America. "We are consistent advocates of enhancing the principles of multilateral approach to global affairs, collective search for answers to global challenges and threats relying on international law, the central role of the United Nations and respect to nations’ identity and their right to determine their future," Lavrov said.

He stressed the two countries had a considerable potential for further development of partnership. "We assume that the course towards closer strategic partnership will be continued after presidential elections in Argentina on October 25," he said.
