MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. Russia will continue offering humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people, the Russian foreign ministry said on Saturday.

On October 16, an aircraft of the Russian emergencies ministry delivered to Latakia over 20 tonnes of humanitarian cargo.

"On the way back, the plane took to Moscow a group of Russians and CSI citizens, who lived permanently in Syria, and their families, who decided to flee the armed conflict area for security reasons (the total of 56 people)," the ministry said.

"The Russian Federation will continue offering necessary humanitarian support to the friendly Syrian people, as well as assisting Russian citizens, who may wish to leave temporarily the Syrian Arab Republic," the foreign ministry said.
