Egypt positively assesses Russian Armed Forces’ actions in Syria - Kremlin spokesman

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russian and Egyptian presidents held the phone conversation late on Wednesday

SOCHI, October 8. /TASS/. In his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi positively assessed the Russian Armed Forces’ actions in Syria to support the Syrian army in its fight against terrorism, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

Peskov confirmed that the two presidents held the phone conversation late on Wednesday.

"The Egyptian side gave a positive assessment to efforts of the Russian Armed Fores [in Syria]," he said.

Peskov said the key aim of el-Sisi’s call was to congratulate Putin on his birthday (Putin turned 63 on October 7). The Kremlin spokesman also said "the situation in Syria was discussed, just as the operation of Russia’s Aerospace Forces to support the army of the Syrian Arab Republic.".
