PARIS, October 2. /TASS/. The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Francois Hollande is underway in the Elysee Palace.

Putin was the first leader of the Normandy Four to arrive to the residence of the French president.

The leaders are holding a discussion in the narrow format behind closed doors. Russia is also represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, presidential aide Yury Ushakov and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Under the program, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko are due to arrive in the French presidential palace later.

After the meeting with Hollande, the Russian leader is expected to have bilateral talks with Merkel.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said besides the talks, the leaders will also attend a working lunch. This will be the third such face-to-face meeting of the four leaders since the so-called Normandy format of negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine was introduced in June 2014.
