MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi discussed the fight against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization and settlement in Syria on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York on September 30, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"The sides discussed pressing issues of bilateral and international agenda. The ministers discussed the situation in the Middle East, including in the context of importance of stepping up the fight against IS and other terrorist groups and promotion of political settlement in Syria. Opinions were exchanged on the situation in North-Eastern Asia. The issue of information security was also discussed," the foreign ministry said.
The ministers confirmed they were satisfied with the level of cooperation between Russia and China in the framework of the United Nations Organization and spoke in favor of developing cooperation.
