MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Russia considers South Korea as one of the key partners in the Asia Pacific, State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said on Wednesday at a meeting with South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Chung Eui-hwa.
"Our meeting is held at a special time for our two countries as diplomatic relations between them were established 25 years ago. We assign great importance to this event and consider South Korea as one of our key partners in the Asia Pacific," Naryshkin said.
The visit of Chung Eui-hwa to Russia is "evidence of [South] Korean leadership’s serious intention to further develop cooperation between Russia and South Korea in all spheres," he added.
"We proceed from the fact that our ties should be based on understanding the value of relations between the two countries and that cooperation serves the interests of the peoples of the two countries," Naryshkin noted.
