Counterterrorism operation regime imposed in five Dagestani districts

MAKHACHKALA, September 28. /TASS/. The regime of a counterterrorism operation has been introduced in five districts of the Russian North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for the Russian National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) operational headquarters in the republic told TASS.

"The counterterrorism operation regime was imposed at midnight on September 28 in the Kurakhsky, Magaramkentsky, Khivsky, Suleiman-Stalsky and Tabasransky districts of the republic," the spokesman said.

"Events to look for and neutralize militants are ongoing," he said.

Russia’s law enforcement agencies continue fighting militants in the North Caucasus over 14 years since the battle phase of the second war against Islamist separatists in Chechnya came to an end in 2000. Attacks on security officials and civilians occur from time to time in Dagestan, Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria.
