Pope Francis to meet with Russian diplomat while visiting UN

Russia has taken over UN Security Council presidency

UNITED NATIONS, September 21. /TASS/. Pope Francis I plans to have a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, when he visits the UN headquarters on Friday, the Apostolic Nuncio (a 'permanent observer') to the UN, Archbishop Bernardito Auza told reporters on Monday.

At present, Ambassador Churkin holds a term of rotating presidency at the UN Security Council.

In the meantime, spokespeople for the Russian mission have not confirmed the information so far.
