Putin greets South Ossetian president on Day of Republic

The Russian president confirmed Russia is ready to offer further assistance to South Ossetia in settlement of the social and economic issues and in providing the national security

MOSCOW, September 20. /TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin congratulated South Ossetia’s President Leonid Tibilov on the Day of Republic, the Kremlin’s press service said on Sunday.

The greeting telegram reads "this holiday symbolises the resistance and heroism of the South Ossetian people, which in the uneasy fighting defeated the independence, announced a quarter of century ago, their legal right for free and peaceful life."

Vladimir Putin spoke favourably about the active development of the alliance between Russia and South Ossetia on the basis of mutual assistance and good neighbourhood, which have united the two peoples for many centuries.

"The Russian president confirmed Russia is ready to offer further assistance to South Ossetia in settlement of the social and economic issues and in providing the national security," the press service said.
