MOSCOW, September 17. /TASS/. Italian parliament members may visit Crimea in October or November, Leonid Slutsky, the head of the Russian State Duma’s committee for CIS affairs, said on Thursday.
"The possibility of this visit is being discussed," said Slutsky who accompanied a group of French lawmakers on their trip to Crimea in July.
"Visits of European politicians have become possible since French deputies told the world the truth about what’s going on in Crimea after its reunification with Russia," he said.
According to Slutsky, the French delegation "broke the ice of the European media lies about the life in Russia’s Crimea and nature of the Crimean referendum."
He expressed hope that the visit of Italian lawmakers will take place and they will be followed by other European delegations.
Last week former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi took a one-day tour of the peninsula together with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that "Crimea was amazing."
