South Korean envoy summoned to Russian Foreign Ministry over sanctions against Moscow

According to the statement, Moscow views the introduction of unilateral sanctions "as the latest unfriendly step from Seoul, made on the basis of unsubstantiated accusations"

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. South Korea’s Ambassador to Moscow Lee Do-hoon was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry where he was told that South Korea’s sanctions against Russian legal entities and private individuals were completely misguided.

"On April 5, South Korean Ambassador to Moscow Lee Do-hoon was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry where he was told by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko that Russia views the introduction of unilateral sanctions against private individuals from Russia and [the country's] legal entities by the Republic of Korea as the latest unfriendly step from Seoul, made on the basis of unsubstantiated accusations of 'Moscow’s illegal cooperation with Pyongyang in violation of corresponding UNSC resolutions,'" the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"This cannot but negatively impact bilateral relations," the diplomatic agency added. "It was stressed that the Russian Federation completely rejects such illegitimate actions against it," the statement said.

Moscow also urged Seoul to reject counterproductive sanctions measures which stoke tensions on the Korean Peninsula, "threatening the Republic of Korea’s own security as a result."
