MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The West’s campaign to "cover up for Ukraine" will have no impact on the impartiality of the investigation into the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert venue, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.
"It is still premature to draw final conclusions, however the fact speaks volumes that in the first minutes of the tragedy, when, as they call it, the gunshots had not died out yet, the United States along with other Western countries turned their propaganda machine to full capacity and started advocating for Ukraine in a vigorous manner. The thief wears a burning hat, as they say [in Russia]," the speaker of the upper house of Russia’s parliament said.
"We are well aware of the reasons for this rush, this frenzy. However, I would like to assure everyone that this campaign to cover up for Ukraine will have no effect on the impartiality of the investigation. The whole truth will be established and made public," she said.
Matviyenko added that Russian authorities would keep the memory of the victims of "this horrible tragedy" sacred and would go to great lengths to ensure that this kind of thing never happened again.
On the evening of March 22, a terrorist attack targeted the Crocus City Hall concert venue in the town of Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region, just outside the Moscow city limits. According to the latest information, 144 people were killed and 551 more injured. Ten people suspected of being involved in the terrorist attack were arrested, including the four gunmen. The Russian Investigative Committee said that it had evidence proving a link between the perpetrators of the attack and Ukrainian nationalists.
