MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Promoting a unifying agenda in the information sphere in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is no easy task in today's atmosphere, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.
"Building up cooperation with the CIS states in the information sphere is a most important area of activity for the Russian Foreign Ministry. And, moreover, is a major constituent element with regard to strategic partnership and allied relations with these states," Galuzin told a meeting of the Federation Council upper house of parliament focused on the information influence in the post-Soviet space.
"It is no secret that it is especially difficult to promote this unifying agenda now, in an unprecedentedly difficult, I would say, environment," the senior diplomat said. He also noted that in a number of post-Soviet countries, primarily in the Baltic states, Ukraine, and Moldova, "draconian measures have been taken to limit, if not completely destroy, Russia's information presence and opportunities for Russian media against the background of systemic Russophobia imposed by the authorities."
"All kinds of obstacles are being created for access to Russian media resources and alternative sources of information," Gazulin states.
