MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russia highly appreciates Thailand's independent policy on the modern international agenda, upper house speaker Valentina Matviyenko said at a meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand Pornpetch Wichitcholchai.

"In Russia, we highly appreciate Thailand's independent, independent policy in modern international politics. The political dialogue at the highest level is successfully developing," the upper house speaker said.

Matviyenko noted that inter-parliamentary relations with Thailand are currently developing effectively. "I would also like to note the intense humanitarian ties. The cross-cultural and Tourism Year, which is taking place this year, will surely serve to enrich Russian-Lapland relations," she added.

The upper house speaker stressed that the visit of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand is a landmark, as it takes place on the eve of the Russian presidential election.

The meeting took place within the framework of Wichitcholchai's official visit to Russia at the invitation of Matviyenko.
