Territories on both banks of Dnieper River inseparable part of Russia’s borders — Medvedev

The politician underscored that Russia’s geopolitical space had been indivisible since the era of ancient Rus and when riverine trade routes were first established from the Varangians to the Greeks

SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, March 4. /TASS/. The territories on both banks of the Dnieper River are an inseparable part of Russia’s borders, and all attempts to cut them off are doomed, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"All our adversaries should understand this simple truth firmly and forever: The territories on both banks of the Dnieper are an inseparable part of Russia’s strategic historical borders, so all attempts to forcibly alter them, to cut them off, are doomed," Medvedev said.

He quoted Russian poet Alexander Pushkin: "Disrespect for the ancestors is the first sign of savagery and depravity. One not only can, but must feel pride for the ancestors’ glory; to disrespect it is disgraceful cowardice." He underscored that Russia’s geopolitical space has been indivisible since the era of ancient Rus and when riverine trade routes were first established from the Varangians (Vikings - TASS) to the Greeks.

"We have a common language, a common religion, a common idea of a person’s everyday life. Therefore it is an inalienable part of the space that is sacred for every one of us, no matter how hard the Ukrainian Nazis and their masters try to tear this space apart," Medvedev noted.
