Moscow, Havana bolstering legal basis for deliveries of Russian oil supplies — Lavrov

The top Russian diplomat also mentioned "practical projects in the area of trade, economic and investment ties"

HAVANA, February 20. /TASS/. Russia and Cuba are reinforcing the bilateral legislative and contractual basis for providing supplies of Russian oil and petroleum products to the Caribbean island nation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters after his meeting in Havana with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

"The most importable bilateral topic is the strengthening of the contractual and legal basis and practical projects in the area of trade, economic and investment ties," the foreign minister said. "An entire series of decisions have been made recently, which fortify the contractual and legal basis for making consistent progress in this sphere," the top Russian diplomat noted.

"This pertains also to supplies of Russian oil, petroleum products, food and fertilizers to Cuba, which is currently rather relevant for the Cuban economy," Lavrov said. "This also pertains to opportunities for investing in the economy of this country, which have been improved significantly," he added.
