Russian cultural center to open in Burkina Faso on Saturday

Numerous state officials and representatives of the Russian embassy have confirmed their intention to attend the opening ceremony, coordinator Natalia Krasovskaya says

NAIROBI, January 13. /TASS/. A Russian cultural center will be launched in the Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou on Saturday, coordinator Natalia Krasovskaya told TASS.

"The Russian House NGO begins work as the Window to Russia exhibition opens today," she said, adding that the center will run cultural and educational programs before the office is launched in the next two months.

According to Krasovskaya, numerous Burkina Faso officials and representatives of the Russian embassy have confirmed their intention to attend the opening ceremony. "We are planning cultural exchange programs," she added.

Later this month, Ouagadougou is set to sign an agreement on cooperation with St. Petersburg State University, Krasovskaya continued.

In late December, the Russian embassy reopened in Ouagadougou after a 31-year interval. Learning the Russian language is becoming increasingly popular in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and other African countries, Russian Ambassador to Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso Alexey Saltykov said in an interview with TASS late last month.
