Protest rallies in Serbia may resume over holidays — Russian envoy

Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko added that Serbian authorities remain in control of the situation

MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. This holiday season may be used to activate protest rallies in Serbia with the situation in the country being fragile, Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko said in an interview with the Izvestia TV channel.

"Protest rallies are not over, they will be held today as well, this has already been stated. And they will continue. The time period before the New Year, during the New Year and Christmas is very dangerous. This situation may be used for some more active protests, possibly for returning to violence. So the situation is very fragile," he said.

The envoy added that Serbian authorities remain in control of the situation.
