Senate speaker to help girl get backstage access to circus for charity

The vice-speakers of the Russian parliament also attended the charity event

MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Federation Council (the upper house of the Russian parliament) Speaker Valentina Matviyenko will make the dreams of two children come true by giving one a piano and the other a behind-the-scenes tour of the circus as part of the "Christmas Tree of Wishes" charity event.

The Speaker of the Upper House removed two ornaments containing children's wishes from the "Wishing Tree" installed in the building of the Federation Council. Specifically, 8-year-old Anastasia from St. Petersburg wrote that she dreamed of going backstage at the circus. "Anastasia is from St. Petersburg. She is eight years old. She dreams of going backstage at the circus. We will definitely organize this, Anastasia," Matviyenko said.

Makar, a boy from St. Petersburg, wrote that he wanted a piano. "He will definitely receive a piano from Santa Claus," Matviyenko said.

The vice-speakers of the chamber also attended the charity event. Among the gifts the children asked for were ice skates, an electric piano, a guitar, a paddleboard, a bicycle and a treadmill.

Russia's "Christmas Tree of Wishes" campaign has been going on since 2018. It helps fulfill the New Year's wishes of children in difficult situations, orphans, children with disabilities, as well as gifted children. Christmas trees decorated with ornaments containing children's dreams are set up all over the country.
