MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. Georgia’s contact with Abkhazia and South Ossetia within the Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in the South Caucasus is important, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the 59th round of the discussions.

"A common interest was expressed in preserving the Geneva mechanism as a platform for regular dialogue on various security aspects in the South Caucasus," the statement reads.

"Russia emphasized the importance of Tbilisi’s continued contact with Sukhum and Tskhinval under the auspices of the Geneva Discussions for starting substantive work on a legally binding agreement on Georgia’s non-use of force against Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as for launching the process of delimiting the Georgia-Abkhazia and Georgia-South Ossetia borders and their subsequent demarcation," the ministry added.
