Russia ready to invite Armenian, Azerbaijani foreign ministers — MFA

The absence of concrete positive results shows the 'effectiveness' of the mission, Maria Zakharova noted

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Russia is ready to play host to the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan, with a view to a trilateral summit if Yerevan shows political will, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing.

"The mistakenness of Yerevan’s staking on Western mediation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization and attempts to paper over the implementation of the package of trilateral agreements at the summit level achieved within the period of 2020 to 2022, is becoming more and more obvious," Zakharova said.

"If there is political will in Yerevan, we are still ready to play host to the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Russian platform with the prospect of arriving at a full-fledged trilateral summit," the diplomat said.

In this regard, Zakharova also noted that the EU monitoring mission in Armenia is actually engaged in gathering intelligence data against Russia and Iran. "The effectiveness of the CSTO was convincingly demonstrated, for example, during the developments in Kazakhstan in January 2022. Had the Armenian leadership agreed to deploy the organization's observation mission on the territory of the republic, many problems could also have been avoided," the diplomat pointed out. "Instead, the Armenian leadership preferred to invite the EU mission, which, under the guise of monitoring, is actually engaged in gathering intelligence data against Russia and Iran and generates reports exclusively for Brussels," she went on to say.

The absence of concrete positive results shows the ‘effectiveness’ of the mission, the diplomat noted.
