UK may supply Apache helicopters to Ukraine in future, Russian envoy says

Andrey Kelin pointed out that British media outlets were depicting weapons supplies to Ukraine as a shortcut to peace

MOSCOW, January 19. /TASS/. US-made Apache helicopters may be provided to Ukraine from the United Kingdom in the future, Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin said on Thursday.

"I don’t want to speculate but even now, nothing can be ruled out because the gloves have come off and there may be Apaches at some point, eventually," he told the Rossiya-24 TV channel in response to a question.

Kelin pointed out that British media outlets were depicting weapons supplies to Ukraine as a shortcut to peace, trying "to convince common people that offensive weapons supplies will pave the way for peace talks from a position that Ukraine will be able to dictate." "There is neither an alternative point of view nor an attempt to look beyond the horizon to figure out what Ukraine's future and relations with Russia will be like," the envoy added.

The Sunday People weekly reported on January 15, citing defense sources, that the British authorities planned to send four AH-64 Apache attack helicopters with Hellfire missiles to Ukraine.
