US afraid of not coping with upcoming Summit of the Americas, says Russian embassy

"A wave of criticism from future guests of the meeting on preparations for the event brings the sincerity of the intentions of the American authorities to make a meaningful contribution of the development of the region into question," the Russian diplomatic mission noted

WASHINGTON, May 19. /TASS/. The US authorities are using the anti-Russia rhetoric to conceal the administration’s fear that it will not cope with the mission of the host party at the Summit of the Americas organized in June, which brings the sincerity of Washington’s intentions to make a meaningful contribution of the development of the Western Hemisphere into question, according to a note by the Russian embassy in Washington released on Wednesday.

President Joe Biden’s nominee for US ambassador to the Organization of American States Francisco Mora said earlier that the wide coalition of Latin American nations would not allow unfreezing Russia’s participation in the activities of the organization soon.

"Mora is using anti-Russia rhetoric to conceal the administration’s fear not to cope with the mission of the host party at the Summit of the Americas organized under the guidance of the Organization of American States on June 6-10. A wave of criticism from future guests of the meeting on preparations for the event brings the sincerity of the intentions of the American authorities to make a meaningful contribution of the development of the region into question," Russian diplomats stated on the embassy’s Telegram channel.

Russia’s cooperation with "Latin American and Caribbean partners continues, and it will deepen," they emphasized. "We are convinced that it fully meets the interests of our states," the Russian diplomatic mission noted.

The permanent council of the Organization of American States passed a resolution on suspension of Russia’s observer status over the situation in Ukraine in April.
