EU bans supply of euro banknotes to Russia — official journal

According to the regulation, "it shall be prohibited to sell, supply, transfer or export euro denominated banknotes to Russia or to any natural or legal person, entity or body in Russia, including the government and the Central Bank of Russia, or for use in Russia"

BRUSSELS, March 2. /TASS/. The European Union has banned supply and export of euro banknotes to Russia and investing into projects funded together with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Relevant regulations were posted in the EU Official Journal on Wednesday.

"It shall be prohibited to invest, participate or otherwise contribute to projects co-financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund," the document says.

According to the regulation, "it shall be prohibited to sell, supply, transfer or export euro denominated banknotes to Russia or to any natural or legal person, entity or body in Russia, including the government and the Central Bank of Russia, or for use in Russia."

The ban does not cover persons traveling to Russia and their family members, and diplomatic missions and international organizations with the legal immunity status, the document says.
