Putin taking part in SCO summit via video link

According to earlier reports, SCO leaders will discuss the activities of the organization and pressing global issues

MOSCOW, September 17. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has joined a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) via video link. The meeting is taking place in Tajikistan's capital of Dushanbe on Friday.

According to earlier reports, SCO leaders will discuss the activities of the organization, which turns 20 this year, as well as pressing global issues, including the coronavirus pandemic and the situation in Afghanistan.

On Thursday, Dushanbe hosted a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), in which Putin participated via video link as well. The Russian president had to cancel his visit to Tajikistan due to the need to self-isolate after being in contact with coronavirus-positive persons in his inner circle.

The first-ever joint meeting of CSTO and SCO leaders is expected to take place later on Friday.
