MOSCOW, April 25. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has discussed Russian-French relations with Political Director of the French Foreign Ministry Nicolas de Riviere in Paris, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.

"The sides compared notes on the current condition of Russian-French relations and on ways to expand them. Special attention was paid to prospects of using already existing formats of cooperation for those aims," the foreign ministry said.

Grushko and de Riviere also exchanged opinions on issues of security, strategic stability, non-proliferation and arms control, Russian-EU and Russian-NATO relations. The sides confirmed adherence to preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program and to defending the interests of Russian and French companies in the face of US sanctions against Iran.

The officials also discussed the situation in Syria and Libya, and touched upon the recent presidential election in Ukraine.
