YALTA, April 18. /TASS/. Western countries are unilaterally trying to work out principles of global information control, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at the fifth Yalta international economic forum on Thursday.

"We see how the international community is looking for new approaches towards the information sphere in all senses. The problem is that these searches are not conducted collectively and these answers are sought not from the viewpoint of creating a common information environment equal for all, which would be a zone of cooperation and interaction and response to crisis situations, but these searches and the elaboration of models have now become a scene of competition among some countries," the Russian diplomat said, stressing that the United Kingdom, the United States and France were displaying the greatest desire for creating their systems of information control.

According to her, Washington is conducting an aggressive foreign policy in the information sphere under the pretext of protecting internal cyberspace. On its part, Paris unilaterally expresses the desire to form "indexes of information authenticity."

"The idea is interesting but if it is implemented on a generally comprehensible, generally recognized and equal footing," the Russian diplomat stressed.
