MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Steps taken by Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the OPCW Jana Reinisova, who is now serving as the chairperson of the OPCW Executive Council, contradict the principle of impartiality, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said that, according to the Czech side, Reinisova is guided by the Czech foreign ministry’s instructions while performing her duties.
"Reports that Jana Reinisova’s actions were based on instructions from the Czech foreign ministry produce additional questions," the ministry said. "This is a direct confirmation of the fact that Jana Reinisova’s actions cannot be absolutely impartial, even with the best will in the world."
It said that the Czech Republic was a member of NATO and the European Union "where everything is based on strict discipline and the so-called Euro-Atlantic solidarity under strict control from Washington."
"Apparently, the root cause of the current extreme politicization of the OPCW technical secretariat’s work lies here," the Russian Foreign Ministry went on.
"We agree with our Czech colleagues that the chairman of the Executive Council of such an influential international organization must perform his or her duties in line with the OPCW mandate and rules, to work in a responsible and transparent manner. Regretfully, this is absolutely not the case," it added.
