MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin in his message to Syrian leader Bashar Assad, handed over earlier this week, outlined a number of issues devoted to bilateral relations and settlement in the country, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"The message was devoted to bilateral Russian-Syrian relations and also the process of political and diplomatic settlement in Syria. This is all what I can tell you," Peskov said, when asked to comment on whether the situation in Idlib was mentioned in the letter.

On March 19, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu made a working trip to Damascus under Putin’s instructions, where he handed over a message from the Russian leader to Syrian President Bashar Assad and held talks with him. According to the Defense Ministry, the sides discussed issues related to the war on terror in Syria, ensuring security in the Middle East and post-conflict settlement. They also hashed over the return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes in Syria as well as humanitarian aid.
