Russian deputy foreign minister discusses enhancing security in Central African Republic

Mikhail Bogdanov, the Central African Republic’s President Faustin-Archange Touadera and Foreign Minister Sylvie Baipo-Temon discussed in detail vital issues of relations of two countries

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Russian Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov paid a working visit to Bangui to discuss with the Central African Republic’s President Faustin-Archange Touadera and Foreign Minister Sylvie Baipo-Temon providing assistance to strengthening the country’s security.

"The Russian side confirmed readiness to continue providing assistance to promoting the African initiative on establishing peace and security in the Central African Republic, the Khartoum Declaration of August 28, 2018, the process of implementing the Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the CAR of February 6, 2019 in the interests of achieving national accord through a constructive dialogue between the country’s democratically elected leadership and the opposition’s organizations," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The sides also discussed in detail vital issues of Russia’s relations with the Central African Republic and the prospects of enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation. Bangui expressed interest in Russia’s contribution to the republic’s social and economic development, training staff, strengthening security and stability in this friendly African state.
