Lavrov meeting with Austrian president in Vienna

VIENNA, March 14. /TASS/. Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov are holding a closed-door meeting at Hofburg Presidential Palace in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Before staring talks, Van der Bellen and Lavrov exchanged a handshake and posed for a photo. They are expected to hold a press conference later in the day.

The Austrian president’s spokesperson told TASS earlier that the parties would discuss bilateral economic ties, relations between the European Union and Russia and global issues, including the situation in the Middle East, as well as Vienna’s role as a host of international organizations’ headquarters.

Lavrov is currently on a visit to Austria to participate in the ministerial segment of the 62nd session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND).
