TALLINN, March 14. /TASS/. The Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service’s report dubbed International security and Estonia 2019 is based on slander and false insinuations, the Russian embassy in Tallinn said in a statement on Thursday.

"If one forgets about the service’s logo on the cover, it is totally possible to think the document is actually a compilation of anti-Russian horror stories by the Western media that the Estonian authors have worked on for a whole year," the statement reads. "As a result, they came up with an incomprehensible jumble of false insinuations, distorted facts, biased assessments and pure slander based on deep hatred for Russia," the embassy added.

"By the authors’ logic, unsuspecting Estonians must always stay alert because a Russian threat awaits around every corner," the statement notes. "Moreover, if they happen to travel to Russia, risks increase tenfold. When they go to the movies to see a Russian film or attend a Russian band’s gig, they risk being exposed to the Kremlin’s propaganda and so on. All of this is clearly aimed at demonizing Russia and destroying bilateral ties, though it runs counter to the Estonian people’s sentiment," the embassy emphasized.

"All in all, this is a vivid example of a policy that seeks to serve foreign political goals to the disadvantage of national interests," the Russia embassy concluded.

On Tuesday, the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service released a report dubbed International security and Estonia 2019, which "deals with different aspects of Russia as a military threat." In particular, the report claims that "the only serious threat to regional security, including the existence and sovereignty of Estonia and other Baltic Sea states, emanates from Russia.".
