MUNICH, February 16. /TASS/. Washington seeks to advance its own interests regardless of the consequences for global security, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters following US Vice President Michael Pence's speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

"The end of the speech makes it clear that the US side wants to pursue its own agenda, regardless of the cost, or any devastating consequences for the global security system," he stressed.

According to Ryabkov, Pence’s words mean that the US is proud of expelling Russian diplomats due to the Skripal case. "When assuming retaliatory steps, we do not show it up as a result of our own work. We do not believe it has to be this way," the diplomat explained. He added that the US Vice President’s hostile rhetoric regarding Iran and Venezuela was predictable.
