UNITED NATIONS, February 9. /TASS/. Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has said he is grateful to the US intelligence services "for protection" when spying on him and pays no attention to that.

"Nikki Haley [who served as the US Permanent Representative at that time] once made a joke on the issue saying that I was protected very reliably. I answered that I really felt safe here and am grateful to the local authorities who pay due attention to me for that," he said in an interview with Russian media on the occasion of Diplomats' Day.

Nebenzya added that he agreed to keep in touch with the former US envoy to the UN. "We do not communicate now, although we agreed that she would get in touch with me when she retired," he explained.
