Russian diplomat says cooperation with Pyongyang fully in line with UN resolution

Moscow’s cooperation with Pyongyang is "fully in line with the demands of the UN Security Council’s resolution and Russia's domestic legislation," Ryabkov emphasized

BEIJING, January 30. /TASS/. Moscow’s cooperation with Pyongyang is fully complaint with the United Nations’ resolution and Russia’s legislation, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters in Beijing, commenting on The Washington Post’s report about a ‘secret proposal’ to North Korea.

"We will look at another report by The Washington Post," Ryabkov said, commenting on the report that Moscow offered a nuclear power plant to North Korea in exchange for its dismantling nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. "If there are some grounds for additional comments, there will be such comments."

Moscow’s cooperation with Pyongyang is "fully in line with the demands of the UN Security Council’s resolution and the domestic Russian legislation," Ryabkov emphasized.

"Unfortunately, we see a desire of some media outlets, most notably in the US, to portray any our cooperation with North Korea as something outstanding and demanding an additional study and analysis if there is a ‘double bottom’ there," Ryabkov said. "This is an absolutely wrong approach."
