Putin to visit Kyrgyzstan — Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan, but it is too early to talk about specific dates yet, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"[Putin’s state visit] is being coordinated through diplomatic channels. The visit is indeed on the agenda," he said, adding that it is too early to talk about specific dates.

"Naturally, the schedule of Russian-Kyrgyz relations has traditionally been pretty tight," he noted.

Daniyar Sydykov, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Kyrgyz President's Office, earlier said that Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov had invited Putin to pay a visit to his country. According to Sydykov, the Russian leader could visit Bishkek in late March 2019. The two leaders are expected to discuss a number of issues, including trade and economic cooperation, regional security and the promotion of infrastructure construction projects in Kyrgyzstan. The issue of Kyrgyz labor migrants in Russia is to be discussed as well.
