North Korea getting Russian missile defense technologies out of the question, says envoy

Earlier, the US said in its missile defense review that "North Korea has acquired Russian missile defense technology"

PYONGYANG, January 18. /TASS/. The transfer of Russian missile defense technologies to North Korea’s military is absolutely out of the question, Russia’s Ambassador to Pyongyang, Alexander Matsegora, told TASS in an interview.

"The possibility that North Korea might obtain Russian missile and air defense technologies either officially or via some illegal channels is absolutely ruled out," Matsegora said. "I can state this categorically as a person who has thorough information on this score."

Earlier, the United States claimed in its Missile Defense Review that "North Korea has acquired Russian missile defense technology and is developing its own mobile missile defense capabilities, specifically, a mobile air and missile defense system."

"While indigenously produced, its interceptors and radar system share similarities with Russian systems," the review said.
