MOSCOW, January 5. /TASS/. Russia and the US plan no direct face-to-fact contacts for the beginning of 2019 as of yet, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told TASS on Saturday.

"As for direct face-to-fact meetings, no contacts are (planned) for the near future," he said when asked a respective question.

Meanwhile, the diplomat noted that Moscow and Washington maintain working contacts through correspondence and via embassies. "There are telephone contacts as well. You’ve seen reports on a telephone conversation between the chief of Russia’s General Staff Valery Gerasimov and chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford," he said.
