Putin wishes Happy New Year to leaders of North, South American countries

Russia's President has sent his best wishes to the leaders of Canada, Argentina, Cuba and Venezuela

MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his best wishes to the leaders of various North-and South American countries on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year, expressing his hope for further development of international cooperation, the Kremlin press service informed on Sunday.

In a message to Argentine President Mauricio Macri, Putin stressed that the recent talks in Buenos Aires have confirmed a friendly and constructive nature of Russian-Argentine relations. "Vladimir Putin has expressed his confidence that the realization of existing agreements would promote further development of the whole complex of bilateral relations in the spirit of comprehensive strategic partnership and in the interest of strengthening international security and stability," the message states.

Putin also addressed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, noting that "the recent talks in Moscow have confirmed the convergence of both countries’ positions on key issues on the global agenda, and have made it possible to outline steps for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. [Putin] expressed his confidence that the achieved agreements will promote further strengthening of relations between Russia and Venezuela."

Putin also sent his best wishes to Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, stressing that Cuba has been Russia’s reliable partner and strategic ally for many years.

The Russian leader congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the occasion of winter holidays and the Canadian leader’s birthday, wishing him and the Canadian people happiness and prosperity.
